Plan for dissemination

To ensure that exploitation and dissemination receive the investment of time and energy that is both necessary and desirable, we envisage an interactive research process into which feedback from both scholars and practitioners is incorporated from the outset. In order to achieve this, we will contact and directly involve the interested milieus (both scientific and practical/policy) in the research since its beginning. This strategy will strengthen the scientific value of the research findings and will increase their potential impact over policy developments.

The scientific community

On the scientific level, we will produce a number of research reports. The output of the project will include publications in the form of a book in English with the research results, additional articles in journals and collective volumes, several publications (including monographs) in national languages to disseminate the results and policy actions, a series of working papers available on the website of the project, and widespread electronic dissemination and discussion.

Practitioners and specialist publics

Specific efforts will be made to discuss and disseminate the research and policy results among European and international policy-makers, institutions and civil society organizations. To achieve maximum impact with practitioners, the research will build the dissemination and involvement strategy into the actual project design. Practitioners will be contacted at an early stage of the project in order to establish a board of advisors, which will consist of academic and non-academic advisors who are prepared to offer their expertise to the project. Once this board of advisors has been established in each country, the national research teams will remain in contact with them, thus involving them and taking counsel on the feasibility of the project design and the most effective formats for disseminating the project findings in useful formats.

General public and society at large

Furthermore, our research is designed so as to include dialogical and interactive components and instruments, which will also help to disseminate findings and secure high impact. On one hand, we will conduct three focus groups in each country, two of them with state actors and with members of non-profit and welfare organizations. The aim is to discuss first findings of our research, bring in the practitioners’ own expertise and engage in discussions about core problems and potential solutions of social and political exclusion.

Communication

Throughout the life-time of the project, communication and contact will be maintained by sending regular e-mail bulletins of progress and outputs, which will also be posted on the project website. On the web page we will put all the relevant information on the project, including summaries of findings and the database on public claims at the end of the project.
